I have been on a bit of a blogging sabbatical! Not really a sabbatical, but I have been pretty busy with Thanksgiving and now Christmas approaching and just really haven’t had anytime to sit down and write. So I am going to fill you in on a little bit of things that have been going on around here!

Every year we put our Christmas tree the day after Thanksgiving and it was no different this year!

(To be completely honest my tree no longer looks this way! It is now only 1/2 decorated! I guess that’s the joys of having an infant!)

(I am a little excited about this! This is the first year since I got her that she’s been able to sit on my tree!)

And a little elf named “Chippy”showed up at our house!

He has been moving here and there and everywhere! But we wont go into that right now!

Landen had a “Mom and Me” Craft day at school!

Where we painted an ornamet with and angel on it and made a cupcake for Jesus’s birthday!

And we visited Santa’s beach house, but thats a story for another time!

Oh and Lexi turned 9 months and is WALKING! And has been since right around Thanksgiving!

Anyways I am hoping to start blogging more, but with all the Holidays I am not sure if I will be keeping up we everything we are doing!

Hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Years! (If I forget to write it later!)

Halloween 2011

Landen was SUPER excited about Halloween this year! This is the 1st year that he really understood it!

We didn’t decorate much but I did see some cute and cheep decorations on Pinterest

These are just milk jugs with painted faces

And we build a foam house from a kit I picked up at Michaels.

When I asked Landen what he wanted to he his first answer was Wolverine! That was back in September! His answer NEVER changed! I was afraid that we would never find a costume but we DID!

And since Lexi is so tiny I was not able to find a costume in her size. So I had to make hers!

We had a wonderful time Trick or Treating! Landen is already planning what he is going to be next year!

In Flanders Fields

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

~John McCrae

We Shall Keep the Faith

Oh! you who sleep in Flanders Fields,
Sleep sweet – to rise anew!
We caught the torch you threw
And holding high, we keep the Faith
With All who died.
We cherish, too, the poppy red
That grows on fields where valor led;
It seems to signal to the skies
That blood of heroes never dies,
But lends a lustre to the red
Of the flower that blooms above the dead
In Flanders Fields.
And now the Torch and Poppy Red
We wear in honor of our dead.
Fear not that ye have died for naught;
We’ll teach the lesson that ye wrought
In Flanders Fields.

~Moina Michael

Memorial Day is not just the unofficial kick off to summer, it is not just a day for parades and cookouts, and days spend at the lake or the beach. It’s a day of remembrance for all the soldiers who have lost their lives protecting this great country and to give us the freedom that we have today! Remember to think of all the men and women that gave their lives and those that put their lives on the line today.

Since we are not decorating a Christmas tree this year because of the move Landen helped his Nana with her tree, well he tried! I think he was more interested in trying to eat the candy canes than actually putting them on the tree but in the end he really started to get the idea and was actually doing it right.

For Halloween we went Trick or Treating on Fort Bragg with a Nana, Papa, and a few friends. Landen was Buzz Lightyear and enjoyed going door to door getting candy. On post the people who want you to come to their door sit outside, most of them dresses up and there was even a few houses that had haunted houses in their garages. It was very different than anything that I had ever experienced before but we had a lot of fun and plan on doing it again next year.

By the end of the night Landen was getting tired and ended spending most of the trip up on Shane’s shoulders.

Landen enjoyed eating his candy at the end of the night!

We all had a great night!
